“Playful magic”

My process is intuitive. Sometimes images are planned but more often they are not. I let the work evolve organically.

I began learning photography as a teenager and majored in art in college. In the 90’s I had the opportunity to take a series of classes in Santa Cruz, CA. with Ted Orland, a photographer and the co-author of Art and Fear. I not only learned photography, post processing in photoshop, I learned to let an image develop over time while edit in the digital darkroom. I was fascinated with the concept of working in layers. Folding images, layering images, adding parts of other images, to create something I’m satisfied with.
Seeing what effects I can get continues to fascinate me.

I live in the Pacific Northwest where the lush greens of moss, views of Puget Sound, rain, fog and mountains all inspire me. There are long days of winter that are wet and windy and the new year often brings snow. The view of the Olympics from my dining room provides a daily parade of birds, cloud formations, sunsets and charismatic skies. I love photographing new landscapes, birds or whatever catches my eye.

Most of my work is available as small-run, limited-edition fine art Giclee’ prints These are reproductions made using light-fast inks on acid-free, 100% cotton paper. The archival paper has a slight texture reminiscent of watercolor paper. Prints are also available on canvas, metal and lucite. All prints prices begin at $90.
